This collection of Eric Satie transcriptions has been published as a sequel to the Debussy album in the series. Again the pieces chosen are of moderate difficulty providing good concert material for the serious saxophonist.

Satie was well known for his eccentricity. His apartment in Paris contained two pianos, one on top of the other, with their pedals tied together. The two Gnossiennes in this book are further examples of his eccentricity. They were originally written without bar-lines (although they fall into 4/4), and are punctuatedwith abtruse comments not necessarily relevant to the music.

The vast majority of Satie's output was for the piano. Most of his works are of short duration (a reaction to Bruckner & Mahler) but musically very complete. Like Debussy, Satie rarely featured the saxophone in his compositionswhich is unfortunate as the purity of his music adapts so well to the instrument.
