Previously made in Germany, Buffet completely re-designed the E11 in 2009 and moved production to the old Leblanc factory in nearby La Couture Boussey.
The new E11 is quite a departure from the old model most notably in two areas. Firstly, it is made from unstained African Blackwood, a status normally reserved for the top of the range Prestige clarinets. This most welcome change means we can marvel at the natural beauty of the wood, something clarinettists have always appreciated. The second major change is that the new E11 France is very free-blowing, much more so than it's predecessor, and this is something clarinet teachers will notice straight away.
Interestingly, the E11 France has no bell ring, but it does no harm as it looks fantastic. The clarinet also comes in a terrific backpack style case, sure to be popular with younger players.
