Trihornophone is a new quartet dedicated to performing original, new music written for trumpet, two saxophones and a drum kit. Composer Sean Og has liberally taken influences from Pop, European Folk and the Avant-Garde along with developments in contemporary jazz remolding them over a rhythmic bed of bouncing rhythms and odd meter grooves. Their pop-orientated three minute tunes underline a playful approach to improvised music, while the unusual instrumentation yields new timbres and textures; a unique format these accomplished musicians handle with creativity and personality. Bill Blackmore (trumpet) is a performer and composer who has been prominent on Dublin's contemporary jazz scene for the past four years, performing acoustic modern jazz with Sean Og's Trihornophone, Fuzzy Logic and The Dirty Jazz Band (Tuesday nights in the International Bar, Wicklow Street) and jazz/electronica fusion with Darragh O'Kelly's group, Redsquare. He is widely considered among the finest improvising brass players in the country. Sean Og (alto saxophone/composer) has been working in the field of creative music for several years now. He is highly regarded as a saxophonist, composer and teacher. His recordings have been released in Norway, America and Ireland and he is a member of the jazz faculty's degree programme at Newpark Music Centre, Dublin. Kelan Walsh (baritone saxophone) is a name to watch, currently studying for a BA in Jazz Performance in Newpark Music Centre, his fluent style completes the signature Trihornophone sound. He teaches and is active on the Irish Jazz scene on both baritone and tenor sax, playing with a wide range of acts including Dead Sound, Francesco Amico Quartet, Nuphuse and Cyclic Episode. Dennis Cassidy (drum kit/percussion) plays in a huge variety of contexts and is in constant demand as an improvising musician and as a master of contemporary beats. He graduated from Newpark Music Centre's Diploma in Jazz Performance in 2004 where he studied under Conor Guilfoyle. He can also be heard in groups such as Keith Lindsay's Ocra, Redsquare and Gonagle's Fancy.
